General installation instructions for the accumulator tank

This guide provides an overview of the general principles for the safe installation of a accumulator tank. A properly installed tank operates safely, lasts a long time, and functions as intended by the system. Errors—such as missing pressure relief, leaks, or air trapped in the system—can damage the system or pose a hazard. Lifting and handling

When lifting and installing the storage tank, use appropriate and necessary lifting and handling equipment. Make sure that the lifting equipment is rated for the load and that the tank is securely fastened throughout the entire moving process.

Reservoir

To compensate for pressure fluctuations, always install an expansion tank with a capacity of at least 10–20% of the total volume of the accumulator tank, heat source, and heat transfer fluid. Without a sufficiently large expansion tank, the system cannot safely accommodate pressure fluctuations.

Safety valve

Always install a safety valve on the accumulator tion tank with an opening pressure equal to or lower than the pressure indicated on the tank’s label. The safety valve must never be set higher than the pressure specified on the label.

Installation according to the system design

Install the storage tank in accordance with the system design and specifications. The locations and configuration of the connections must comply with the system requirements.

Startup and control

After installation and filling, do the following before putting the system into service:

  1. Check for leaks and bleed the air from the system.
  2. Make sure that the pressure and temperature are within the safe operating range.
  3. If necessary, reduce the pressure by draining water from the system, and set the maximum allowable water temperature for the system.

Threaded connections

Do not overtighten the threaded connection. Overtightening may damage the connection or the tank.
