The smokehouse consists of two chambers. In the lower section of the smokehouse, there is a wood-burning chamber, while the upper part houses a meat chamber. In a single-walled smokehouse, the smoke generated from burning wood ascends through the chimney via the meat chamber. With this type of smokehouse, it is crucial to use wood specifically designed for smoking. It is a so-called cold smoke smokehouse.
