Buffer Tank Warranty: What Does the 5-Year Manufacturer’s Warranty Cover?

Mindreks Metall provides a 5-year warranty on the buffer tanks it manufactures. The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, and the warranty period begins on the date the product is delivered to the purchaser.

For the warranty to be valid, the tank must be properly transported, stored, installed, used, and maintained. Please also review the storage tank instructions so that you can take into account, already during system design and tank installation, any conditions that may later affect the resolution of a warranty claim.

Storage Tank Warranty: What Defects Does It Cover?

The Mindreks manufacturer’s warranty applies to all products manufactured by Mindreks Metall and covers material and manufacturing defects that arise during the warranty period.

If an inspection reveals that the defect is covered by the warranty, Mindreks will decide, depending on the circumstances, whether to repair or replace the defective product or part.

Repair or replacement does not start a new five-year warranty period. The warranty continues until the end of the originally specified warranty period.

What determines the validity of the warranty?

The warranty assumes that the product is used in accordance with its technical specifications and intended use.

This means it is important to follow the requirements throughout the tank’s entire service life—from transportation and storage through installation, use, and maintenance.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by, for example:

  • incorrect, incomplete, or unprofessional installation;
  • exceeding the maximum allowable operating pressure;
  • pressure surges or other hydraulic loads that exceed the permitted operating conditions;
  • exceeding the permitted temperature range;
  • freezing;
  • water or a heat transfer fluid that is unsuitable or does not meet the requirements;
  • corrosion caused by unsuitable water chemistry, environmental factors, or electrical or galvanic effects;
  • external mechanical damage;
  • forces and stresses transmitted to the tank from the piping or connected equipment;
  • modifying, welding, drilling, or otherwise altering the tank without the prior written consent of Mindreks Metalli;
  • use of the product in a system that does not meet the requirements or the product’s technical specifications;
  • improper storage.

Therefore, not every defect found on a tank automatically indicates a manufacturing defect. When assessing a warranty claim, the cause of the defect must also be determined.

What should you do if a defect appears in the tank?

Mindreks Metall must be notified of the defect as soon as possible.

It is a good idea to include the following with your warranty claim:

  • proof of purchase or delivery;
  • information necessary to identify the product;
  • description of the defect;
  • the time when the defect appeared;
  • if possible, photos or other material that will help assess the defect.

Before resolving a warranty claim, Mindreks has the right to inspect the product or request additional information in order to determine the cause of the defect.

When installing, also take into account future access

When planning the location of the storage tank, it is important to consider not only installation but also future maintenance and possible replacement.

The tank must be installed in such a way that it can be reasonably accessed for inspection, maintenance, and repair, and that it can be removed or replaced if necessary.

The warranty generally does not cover costs incurred to gain access to the tank. Such costs may be associated, for example, with the removal and subsequent restoration of piping, equipment, walls, floors, ceilings, doors, insulation, or other structural elements.

For this reason, it is worth considering maintenance and removal options as early as the design phase of the utility room and the heating system.

Check before putting the system into operation

Before putting the system into operation, check the tank’s allowable operating pressure and temperature range, the suitability of the heat transfer fluid, and ensure that the piping does not subject the tank to excessive forces.

This ensures that the tank operates under the correct conditions throughout its service life, and if a problem arises, it is easier to determine the cause.
